Gerald William Guilbeau, 81, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at Jefferson Manor nursing home in Baton Rouge, La. He will be dearly missed.
Gerald (Gerry) was born in Sunset, Louisiana on March 19, 1944, the youngest of 5 siblings to Octave and Theresa Guilbeau. He attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana and graduated from Northeastern Louisiana University’s College of Pharmacy in 1968. He met his wife of 54 years, Virginia Guilbeau, early in his professional career while both working for K&B Drugs in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They fell in love and soon moved to Lafayette where they resided until moving back to Baton Rouge in the summer of 2025. Besides being a loving husband and father, Gerry loved all things Ragin Cajuns and would watch or listen to countless football, basketball and baseball games, no matter the outcome. He was also a gifted craftsman who spent the later part of his years as an engraver at a local trophy shop, where he took tremendous pride in creating awards for numerous events of all types.
Gerry is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Earl Guibeau; sister, Gloria Verret; brothers-in-law, Eugene Verret and Numa Stelly; nephews, David Stelly and Jason Guilbeau; and beloved son, Brian Guilbeau.
He is survived by his wife, Virgina Guilbeau; brother, James Guilbeau (Sandi); sister, Charlotte Stelly; son, Brent Guilbeau (Leslie); daughter-in-law, Cassondra Guilbeau Rasbeary (Scott); grandchildren, Lilly Sharma (Dhruv), Julianna Guilbeau and Evan Guilbeau as well as several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the National or Louisiana chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (10101 Siegen Lane, Suite 2A, Baton Rouge, LA 70810), or other charity of your choice.
Services are planned for Saturday, November 8th at 1:30 PM at St Charles Borromeo Church in Grand Coteau, LA (174 Church Street, Grand Coteau, LA 70541). Visitation beginning at 12:30 PM.
There will be a small bereavement for friends and family immediately following services at 1327 W Willow St, Lafayette, LA 70806 (Daigle House Apartments clubhouse).
