Gerald “Jay” Decoteau, born January 21, 1947, in Gonzales, passed away July 3, 2025, at Gonzales Healthcare Center.

Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and watching LSU football and baseball. Always a comedian and jokester, he lived life to the fullest and will be missed by his many friends and family.

He is survived by his two daughters Renee Arnold and Robbie Decoteau (Schofield Lobell), his grandson Brennen Arnold and great granddaughter Blaklee Arnold. Brother Irah Decoteau, sisters Beverly Babin and Norma Jean Clouatre (David), and sister-in-law Deanna Decoteau. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews including a very special niece Vicki Mahan and longtime friend Pamala Wiltz.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Allen J “Bigeye” and Leola Gautreau Decoteau, brother Curtis Decoteau, sister Elaine Decoteau, sister-in-law Revo Decoteau, and brother-in-law Stanley “Poopie” Babin.

Visitation will take place on Monday July 14, 2025, at St Mark Catholic Church in Gonzales, LA from 10AM till service at 11AM
