Listen to Obituary

George Daniel Aucoin passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 20, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born on November 12, 1939, to John Branch and Ivy Haycock Aucoin and was known as “Danny” to those closest to him.

Danny lived a long and colorful life and loved telling stories to anyone willing to listen. He was a two-time All-State football player at Livonia High School until his father’s heart attack required him to step away from the sport and take a job to help support his family. Though his playing days ended early, his passion for football never faded, especially at the college level. Saturdays were often spent watching any game he could find, particularly cheering on his beloved LSU Tigers.

He was also an avid golfer and fisherman, enjoying the peace and simple pleasures those pastimes brought him.

Danny was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He spent many years traveling throughout the southern United States working in various power plants. After retiring, he remained a familiar face at his local IBEW Hall, Local 995, where he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and wisdom with others. He worked hard, learned much, and took great pride in passing on what he knew.

Although he loved his work, Danny never allowed it to get in the way of what he loved the most, his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret Lambert Aucoin; his two daughters, Debra Byrne (Sean) and Cindy Weimer (Dean); grandchildren, Stephen Byrne (Trinity), Kelsey Johnson (Victor), Connor Weimer; Miranda Lozano (Megan), and Nicholas Weimer; great-grandchildren, Nolan and River Johnson and Conrad Lozano. He is also survived by his brother, Bobby Aucoin (Jenny), and his sisters, Ivy Stringer (Kelly) and Sue Wroten (Ronnie), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Danny loved everybody and was loved in return. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
