Gary Wayne Johnson, age 63, a native of Lecompte, Louisiana and resident of Galvez, Louisiana, passed away on May 28, 2026. After a courageous battle with colorectal cancer, he fought to keep living even as other health issues plagued him. He faced life’s challenges with remarkable strength, determination, and resilience, fighting until his very last breath.
Gary was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Delores Matt Johnson and George “Bay” Johnson.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Keri Villar Langlois and her husband, Clayte Langlois; his loving fiancée, Hope Pittman; his sisters, Liz Johnson and Anne Johnson; his brother, Randy Johnson; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Gary found great joy in the simple things that brought people together. His garden was his passion and a reflection of his dedication to his father’s memory. He loved spending time outdoors fishing, crabbing, and gathering with family and friends for crawfish boils. If it came from the water or could be shared around a table with loved ones, Gary was sure to enjoy it.
Of all his accomplishments, the one closest to his heart was his daughter, Keri. She was his greatest source of pride and joy, and he never missed an opportunity to let others know how much she meant to him.
Gary’s life was marked by perseverance. He endured many hardships and battles throughout the years, yet in the end he did not allow them to define him. Instead, he praised his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for sparing his life many times, and he finished his race well. Those who knew him will remember a man who was tough, loyal, hardworking, generous, and deeply devoted to helping anyone in need.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at The Church International, 13423 Highway 431, Saint Amant, Louisiana 70774. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
Though his presence will be deeply missed, the memories he created, the incredible strength he possessed, and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
