Gail Genevieve Hansen McClure, age 69, of Ascension Parish, Louisiana passed away on June 23, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents; Kjell and Edna Hansen; her son Lloyd Cernich Jr; and her sisters Susan Gautreaux and Karen Cernich.
Gail is survived by her adoring husband Michael McClure; her brother Knute Hansen (Claudette); their children Timmy Cernich (Holly), Jimmy Cernich (Rebecca), Joey Cernich Sr (Stephanie), Jamie Cernich (Shannon), Amanda Powell (John Ballard), and Jenifer McClure (Jacob Milkoski). Grandchildren Christina Riggins (Zackary), Madeline Blount (Caleb), Allison Cernich, Sidney Bordelon, Brennan Cernich, Raymi Garcia (Skyler), Joey Cernich Jr, Becca Cernich, Jenna Cernich, Lyla Cernich, Hunter Wright, Zoey Ballard, Lillian McClure, Rosalie Milkoski, Juliet Milkoski, and Lincoln Milkoski. Great-grandchildren Emery Blount and Ridge Riggins.
Gail was a devoted wife, loving mother and cherished grandmother and great-grandmother whose family was the center of her life. She found great joy in bringing her family together and creating memories that will be cherished for generations. An avid fisherman, Gail was the happiest near water, rod in hand, and enjoying the peace and beauty of the outdoors. Her love of fishing reflected her patience, her appreciation for life’s simple pleasures, and her quiet sense of adventure.
Throughout her years working in retail services, Gail was known for her kindness and genuine care for others. She had a natural way of making people feel welcome and valued, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Affectionately known as “Memaw,” Gail will be remembered for her strength, warmth, and the deep love she shared with her family.
She took great pride in her children and their accomplishments and found endless joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those who knew her will fondly remember the way she would lovingly call out “Honey” to her husband Mike, a simple moment that reflected the deep bond and affection they shared. Gail will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A service will be held in Mrs. Gail's honor on Tuesday, June 30th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 502 E. HWY 30, Gonzales, LA 70737, with burial to follow at Hope Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11AM, with the service to follow.
