Floyd Thomas Kennedy, known to many as Tommy, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born on November 16, 1937, Floyd lived a life defined by hard work, dedication to his family, and commitment to his community. He was a proud graduate of Central High School and honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army Special Forces, proudly earning the distinction of Green Beret. Following his military service, he became a successful businessman and owner of Food Villa in Baton Rouge, where he built lasting friendships and relationships throughout the years. He was also a longtime and proud member of Local 198, a brotherhood he valued deeply.

A hardworking man throughout his life, Floyd believed in earning everything through determination, perseverance, and an honest day’s work. He took great pride in providing for his family and leading by example. Outside of work, he had a lifelong love for classic cars.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Connie Floyd Kennedy and Annie Bourn Kennedy; his children, Floyd Thomas Kennedy Jr., Danielle Kennedy Moriarty, and Angela Faye Kennedy, Bronwyn Edgens; and his brother, Billy Kennedy.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Rhonda Mullins Kennedy; his children, Jeff Kennedy (Tammy), Paul Kennedy (Theresa), Annie Morgan Kennedy Griffin (John), and Margeaux Edgens (Shane); his sisters, Margie Breaud, Sandy Rayborn, and Shirley Lesage; his brother, Keith Kennedy; and his beloved grandchildren, Mallory Kennedy, Michael Paul Kennedy, Johnna Howard, Donald Moriarty, Mia Kuehne, Jett Kuehne, Kason Kuehne, Scarlett Heltz, Xander Germany, and Zavier Germany.

To his family, Floyd was much more than a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He cherished his family above all else. His love, guidance, and unwavering support will be remembered and treasured by all who knew and loved him.

Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind and the legacy of love, strength, hard work, and devotion that will continue through the generations of his family.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
