Florence M. Robichaux Lasserre
October 18, 1935 - May 27, 2026
A loving sister, mother, grandmother, widow & friend, she entered eternal rest on Wednesday May 27, 2026. Flo was 90 yrs old; she graduated from Holy Name of Mary Catholic School in Algiers LA, where she was born.
She was a homemaker and retired School Bus Operator for East Baton Rouge Parish, retiring after 27 yrs of service to the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. She will be greatly missed and live on forever in our hearts.
A lover of life & people, Flo’s passions were her family, friends, attending daily / weekly mass, mardi gras parades, Cajun dancing, caring for others, attending grandchildren events, making crafts, shopping at Chicos, playing cards or enjoying bingo games with friends. In her younger years she was often on the go and rarely idle. For a number of years, Florence helped her husband Maurice raise Christmas trees on their land in Iberville Parish. Her family would join her & Maurice each fall when the tree farm was getting ready to open; memorable years Flo cherished with family and friends!
Flo had a long-time passion for Cajun French Music and its heritage. It unfolded in the middle of her life when she & her husband Maurice first began attending Cajun dances; a fun hobby that lasted for 30 yrs! Flo actively served her husband Maurice, typing his handwritten articles as members in the Cajun French Music Association (Maurice wrote a monthly article titled “Cajun Heritage”). Flo & Maurice met many wonderful people along the way that shared their love of Cajun French Music and its heritage.
Flo is survived by her daughters Denise Lasserre-Gibson (Ted) and Janelle Lasserre-Olinde (Patrick), grandsons Dustin Kahn (Rachel) & Devin Kahn (Ashley), granddaughters Morgan Olinde-Zaeff (Nick), Megan Olinde, Lauryn Gibson, great-granddaughters Juliana & Charlotte Zaeff, great-grandsons Rylee Kahn, Jon & Dalton Gibson, brother Bennett “Benny” Robichaux (wife Pat) and numerous other relatives and friends. Flo was preceded in death by parents Bennett & Florence Robichaux Sr., her father & mother-in-law Maurice Sr. & Ida Lasserre, brother-in-law Edward Comeaux, sister-in-law Marilyn Comeaux, brother Harold Robichaux, sister-in-law Shirley Robichaux, her only son Randy Lasserre and most recently her husband L. Maurice Lasserre Jr.
Family & Public visitation will be welcomed at 10:00 am (when doors open) on Monday June 1, 2026, at Saint George Catholic Church 7808 St. George Dr. Baton Rouge LA 70809.
