Eugene Gullett

Eugene Gullett passed away peacefully in Baton Rouge, LA on October 29, 2026, at the age of 91.  Eugene was born in North Mississippi as the third child of six on May 26,1935. After high school, he graduated from Junior College. Eugene worked as an insurance agent for 12 years prior to becoming a minister and pastor.

Becoming a minister was a lifelong calling for him. He graduated from William Carey College with a B.S. in Theology and then from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree.

Eugene pastored several churches part time while he spent five years obtaining his education. Then he pastored Sorrento Baptist Church, Sorrento, Louisiana, for 45 years.

Eugene is survived by daughters, Norma Thurston and husband, Dale, Lisa Volentine and husband, Kerry; daughter-in-law, Denise Gullett; grandchildren, Michelle Thurston Cox and husband, Adam, Sean Beasley, Joan Gullett and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Gullett, son, Greg Gullett, and granddaughter, Allison Beasley.

A private service to honor his life will be held at a later date.
