Esther L. Gould

In Loving memory of Esther L Gould, she passed away on October 31, 2023. She was a resident of Lacour House Assisted Living Center. She lived a full life of love and laughter. She made friends with everyone, and everyone was her friend.

She loved traveling, camping, fishing, needle work and above all she loved to cook. Born January 20, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois. Esther was the 5th child of 14 siblings.

Spent most of her life in Illinois and married to Robert “Bob” Gould, the love of her life. They both have shared many adventures together. They enjoyed their life at the Mendota Hills camp grounds where they made many friends. Along with a few other couples they were called the “Wild Hogs of Mendota Hills”. Her siblings gave her the nickname of “Tootsie” but most simply called her “Ma.”

She is preceded in death by her Mother Esther Kohler and Father Carl Kohler, Sister Janey, Brothers Eddie, Albert and Larry.

She is survived by brothers Ken and Karl and sisters Joan, Margaret, Merry, Janet, Pattie, Sandra and Brenda. She had three children Dawn, Ty and Carol. Three stepchildren Robert, Jacalyn, Daniel. 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A small ceremony was held at the Lacour House on November 3, 2023, and a celebration of life will be held in Illinois at the Mendota Hills Camp Grounds in the spring of 2024. Those dates and times will be sent out once final arrangements have been made.

The family would like to thank Dr. Donald Doucet, Dr. Ashley Bordelon and the staff of Pointe Coupee Hospice for their care and compassion. The family would also like to thank the staff at Lacour House for all the care, love and compassion they provided for Esther and continuing care for Bob.
