Errol “Blue” James Blouin, 85, passed peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge.
He lived his life with gentle strength, a loving heart, and a carefree spirit. A talented carpenter by trade, his true passion was music. He had a remarkable gift for playing nearly any instrument he picked up and found great joy in sharing his love of music with others.
Born on January 25, 1941, Blue was a lifelong resident of Gonzales, Louisiana, where he was born and raised.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gail G. Blouin; his daughters, Donna (Tommy) Sheets, Vicky (Steven) Manuel, Pattie (Randy) Bourque, and Amanda (Brenton) Savoie; his sons, Vernon Blouin (fiancée Holly) and Joshua Blouin; his sister, Roleen Duhe; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Octave and Addie Blouin; his father- and mother-in-law, Vernon and Mae Gautreau; his sister, Julia Sellers; and his brothers-in-law, Donald Sellers, Sr., and Allen Duhe.
The Blouin family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Our Lady of the Lake and the compassionate staff at The Carpenter House for their exceptional care, kindness, and support.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Blue’s life at a memorial luncheon on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Faithful United Methodist Church on Highway 431 in St. Amant, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist with funeral expenses.
May his music, laughter, and the memories he leaves behind bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
