Ernest James Carline passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at St Joseph Hospice/The Carpenter House, at the age of 76. Born on December 21, 1947, in Plaquemine, LA and a lifelong resident of Bayou Sorrel, he was a Commercial Fisherman, Minister and Right of Way Contractor. Visitation will be held at Crossfire Tabernacle, 76580 Rosedale Road, Rosedale, LA on Monday, August 12, 2024, beginning at 1:00 PM until religious services at 6:00 PM, conducted by Brother Troy Romig.
Ernest is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Cheryl “Terry” Philpot Carline; Sister-in-law Delanea Harrell (Mark) and brother-in-law Darryl Philpot; nieces Carla Kelly Ghashghaee (Fayz), Vonda Kelly Albarez (Everette), Stacy Kelly Carline (Larry), Debbie Carline Guidry (Joe), Cathy Carline, Kami Harrell, Janina Galvez (Sergio); and nephews Gabe Harrell, Dustin Harrell (Nicki), Patrick LeJeune and Chris Philpot; great nieces Brittany Albarez, Aimee Carline, Demi Patrick, Analynn Valencia, Jaycie Guy, Brylie Guy, Kendall Harrell, Kailey Daigre, Sabryn Philpot, Jocelyn Philpot and Kailyn Philpot; great nephews, Chene Ghashghaee, Sean Ghashghaee, Joshua Albarez, Jacob Albarez, Cody Carline, Randy Patrick, Jackson Guidry, Gabe Philpot and numerous great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Carl Lee “Tot” Carline and Bessie Kelly Carline, brother Donald Lee Carline and sister Shelby Carline Kelly, brother-in-law Millard Kelly, sisters-in-law Sharon Carline Daigle and Brenda Persilver Carline, and great nephews Adam Carline and Anthony Carline.
Ernest was a member of Crossfire Tabernacle where he served as an Associate Minister. He enjoyed spending time in his garden, reading, and visiting with family while drinking a good cup of coffee. In his earlier years, Ernest enjoyed traveling across the United States and Canada with his wife and later they enjoyed time at their cabin in Arkansas camping. He spent many years out on the Atchafalaya Basin fishing, crawfishing, and hunting duck and rabbits.
