Emmett Joseph Wilder passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024, at the age of 84. He was a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a resident of Bogalusa, Louisiana.
He is survived by his companion, Donna Henley, his brother William Wilder and wife Libby, stepchildren Troy E. Semons (Anna), Todd J. Semons (Jessica), Traci S. Contine (Jeff) a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by sister-in-law Sarah Wilder, Nieces Lauren Bourg (Michael), Erin Wagner (David), Karen Wilder, nephews Patrick Wilder (Michelle), Bradley Wilder and Chris Wilder (Holly).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia White Wilder, parents A.E. Wilder Jr., and Adele Mary Wilder and his brother, Warren Wilder.
Emmett was a long-time teacher in Lafayette and Baton Rouge, ending his career with retirement from Baton Rouge Community College. He was a man of many talents and interest. He enjoyed singing, playing musical instruments, drawing, photography and writing poetry. He was devoted to Pat, his wife of 33 years. And he loved having long conversations, reminiscing with his brother, Willie.
Emmett’s Family would like to thank Grace Health and Rehabilitation, Hospice of Baton Rouge and Modern Hospice for the wonderful care that they gave him. They are also grateful to all the others who cared for him in his last days.
