Elton "Pap" LeBeau

   With grateful hearts and unwavering faith in God's promises, Elton (Pap) LeBeau Sr. peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on August 8, 2026. Pap was born on May 11, 1933, to Elphege and Adley LeBeau of Brignac, Louisiana. He was the youngest of six children and was preceded in death by his wife, Lynois Sheets LeBeau; his son, Elton Louis LeBeau Jr.; his son-in-law, Ronald “Ron” Squyres; his parents, Elphege and Adley LeBeau; his sisters Ronie (Ernest) Tureau; Ealia (Hickley) Waguespack; and brothers Welmon, Hilton and Acklin (Enell) LeBeau. Pap was the proud father of Elton (Debbie) LeBeau Jr.; Carla (Robert) Waggenspack; Anita Armand; Mary LeBeau; and Glenda Squyres. He was a loving grandfather to Shannon and Jonathon Santone; Adam, Brian, Cathy Landry, Derek, and Emily Waggenspack; Rachael Buratt, Jessica Armand, Rebecca Montgomery, and John Armand; Courtney LeBeau; Jarrod Solar and Morgan Nesser. He is also survived by 34 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and another great grandchild on the way. 

   From humble beginnings during the Great Depression, Pap built a life defined by devotion. Devotion to his wife of 62 years, Lynois, who he lovingly cared for in the years following her stroke. Pap’s love for the Lord was evident through every aspect of his life. He found joy in prayer, saying the rosary, and peace in the promises of eternal life with his beloved Lynois. He shared his faith through caregiving, compassion, honesty, and unyielding trust in God’s plan. He taught us that faith is often strongest in the ordinary moments of life. He grew up farming with his parents' picking strawberries with his dad and daylilies with his mom. He later became a rancher raising cattle with his family. He retired from Ormet Corporation and boasted of the wonderful friendships he made there, and the time spent working beside his son, Elton.

   After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, and traveling to flea markets and auctions with Lynois. Pap learned about survival and resilience during the Korean War. He enlisted in the United States Navy on August 29, 1951, where he proudly served for four years. He was stationed in Sasebo Japan where he received the rank of Boatswain Mate and served aboard the USS Leo. After two years, he was reassigned to the legendary destroyer, the USS KIDD 661 where he attained the rank of 3rd Boatswain Mate. His time in service reflected his enduring commitment to helping others and his steadfast sense of duty.

   Visitation will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, beginning at 8:30 am with the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. After mass, there will be a funeral procession to the burial at Lake Cemetery located at 45049 Lake Martin Road in St. Amant, LA, with Military Honors to be rendered at the graveside. After burial, a memorial gathering will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Parish Center. 

  Pallbearers will be Shannon Santone, Jonathon Santone, Adam Waggenspack, Derek Waggenspack, John Armand and Dustin Landry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brian Waggenspack, Jarrod Solar, Joshua Nesser, and Randall Skillern. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Old Jefferson Community Care Center and Clarity Hospice for their love, care, and compassion for our dad. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Elton (Pap) LeBeau Sr’s name to the Ronie Tureau Food Pantry or Full of Grace Cafe, both located at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 44450 Highway 429, St. Amant, LA 70774.
