Elsie Pierce Trant, a kind and caring woman known for her motherly nature, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, in Gonzales, Louisiana. Born on March 27, 1936, in Lockport, Louisiana, Elsie devoted much of her life to being a homemaker, finding joy in simple pleasures such as painting and drinking coffee. Elsie was also a faithful parishioner of St. Theresa of Avila Church in Gonzales, La.
Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Wayne Trant (Karen), and Alan Trant (Amy). She was a proud grandmother to Misty Rabeaux (Sean), Lindsay Finnan (John Jr.), Charles Jones (Robyn), Angie Scherer (Jason), Brandon Trant (Taylair), Andrew Trant, and Ali Trant. Her great-grandchildren, Johnny Finnan, Pierce Finnan, Khloe Trant, Juliette Finnan, Conlee Finnan, Brooks Rabeaux, Kylie Trant, and Kenneth Paul Trant, also carry forward her loving legacy. Elsie is survived by her brothers, Dan Pierce and Herbert Pierce.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Harvey Trant; her son, Bryan Trant, and his wife Mary; her parents, Franklin Pierce Sr. and Juliette Richard Pierce; and her siblings, Frederick J. Pierce, Edward Pierce, Franklin Pierce Jr., and Helen Vicknair.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Elsie’s life at Holy Rosary Catholic Church located at 44450 LA-429 in St Amant, Louisiana, 70774. The visitation will take place on May 15, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Entombment in the mausoleum will follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memory, 604 E Hwy 30, Gonzales, Louisiana, 70737.
Elsie’s kindness, caring spirit, and gentle love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She touched the lives of many with her warmth and grace, and her memory will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
The family would like to thank the caring doctors and staff of Southern Grace Hospice, Francois Bend and Elsie's niece Linda Eschette for their excellent care. They would also like to thank Mary, Dianne, and Shannon for doing Elsie's hair and nails and continuously pampering her and making her feel beautiful.
