Ellis Chavers, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. He was born July 8, 1931 in Walker, Louisiana to Joseph B. and Floy (Zachary) Chavers. Ellis married the love of his life, Hellen (Holden) Chavers on November 23, 1950.
He retired from the City of Baton Rouge as a commercial building inspector and went on to work for the City of Denham Springs and the Parish of Livingston in their building departments. He loved building, construction and was a master plumber. Ellis had the amazing gift to think through problems and develop a workable solution. Can’t was never an option.
He lived life to the fullest through travel and chatting with family and friends. He never met a stranger. Ellis had a special ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Hellen. Two daughters, Judith Chavers Davis (husband, Mike Davis) and Pamela Chavers Santos (husband, Hal Santos). Two granddaughters, Jaime Santos Tipton (husband, Jerry Tipton) and Brittany Leigh Davis. Two great-grandchildren, Finley Leo Tipton and Remi Rae Tipton. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Services will be Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Revival Temple in Walker, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 9-11am with service at 11am.
