Listen to Obituary

Eileen Ruth Folse of Baton Rouge passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026 at the age of 92.

Born into the Silent Generation, Eileen's life and legacy is a true reflection of a time when hard work, caution, modesty, and an emphasis on family values prevailed. If you knew her, you knew she possessed a strong will, tenacity and resilience throughout her entire life. She felt blessed to have raised her children, worked hard, and served the community dutifully. Her catholic faith guided her and she believed fervently that with God all things are possible.

She was born October 4, 1933 in Baton Rouge to Joseph and Norma Verret Darensbourg, the second of seven children. She learned so much from her dad, a local business-owner whom she adored with all of her heart. He taught her that change and challenges were a natural part of life and by practicing conservative principles she would always be grounded.

She married her handsome beau, Milton Anthony Folse of Convent, La, in 1955 and they had four children. The family focused foremost on education, following the golden rule, and togetherness.

Eileen spent more than 30 years as a manager of the EBR Parochial Schools Food and Nutritional Program starting at St. Joseph's Academy. She and her dear friend Sister Agatha Chauvin worked together on many program and service projects. She found great purpose in having contributed to the development and well-being of countless students K through 12.

At Christmas season, it was with great expectation that "Aunt Eileen" would have an ample amount of homemade pecan brownies and chocolate chip cookies. She enjoyed good times with her siblings and close friends throughout the years, from Texas to California- Laissez les bon temps rouler!

She was an outstanding cook and homemaker - every meal and dish she prepared received a five-star rating from her husband and family. Sundays and holidays included their favorite foods especially her cornbread dressing and shrimp mirliton but beyond that, each one of them looked forward to her baking their birthday cake.

Before retiring she found joy in gardening, growing plants and vegetables with ease; her beautiful green lawn was admired by many. She never had a problem with multitasking and knew she would not let any hardship or storm break her confident spirit.

Like her mother, she had a keen eye for pretty things and was a pet and dog lover. In the last seventeen years, Eileen was never alone because her sweet dog Ty was always by her side. She had several special people and neighbors that she could truly count on - especially in the last couple of years. It would be a big undertaking to try to name all the people, friends, cousins, nieces and nephews, that she cared for and loved.

Her greatest happiness was being called "Gran". To her grandchildren, she was their cheerleader, faith counselor, and encourager-in-chief. They enjoyed knowing about her life and her many travels.

She is survived by her children, Phyllis F. and husband Gary Darensbourg (deceased) of Baton Rouge, Kathy Boudreaux, Giddings,Texas, Kirk Folse, Austin, Tx, and Deidre and husband Tommy Potts, Smithville,Tx. Also her grandchildren, Kelly Boudreaux, Chad (deceased) and Daniel and wife Kathryn Levert Darensbourg, Brooke and husband Rex Thompson, Alaina and husband Joe Chatham, Aaron Folse, and Margaret Potts. And her great grands, Noah and Kailey, Emery and Elliot, and Oliver and Margot.

She is also survived by her brothers, Joseph (JE), Wayne, and Michael; her sister Rose and husband Jude Patin and sister Cynthia D. Hurd; and sister-in-law Sally, wife of her brother Charles (deceased).

Eileen was proud to have lived a fulfilled and faithful life and she will be deeply missed. In keeping with her wishes, those wanting to honor her are welcome to attend a Rosary at 9:30 am and Mass of Christian Burial at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 749 East Boulevard, Baton Rouge on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 10 am.
