Edna Gayle White

Beloved mother, Edna Gayle White, 69, passed away November 8, 2023, with her family by her side.

Gayle was born to the late Betty and Harrell Chancey, May 1, 1954, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her family paid tribute to her, "Gayle was one of the strongest people you could ever meet, she cared very deeply for her children and always opened her heart and home to them whenever needed." Gayle was well known for having unrivaled cooking skills. She was born with a green-thumb and could usually be found outside working in her garden.

Gayle is survived by her sister, Shirley Chancey, of Vermont and two children: Brandi Stokes (Dallas) (née Small), of French Settlement; and Bobby White, of New Orleans. She is also survived by two grandchildren: Brooklynn Melancon (Chase) (née  Breland) and Breanne Horne (Shelby)  (née Breland); and five Great-Grandchildren: Tynlee Horne, Braylee Horne; Conley Melancon; Cruz Melancon and Kinsey Melancon. She was predeceased by her grandparents R.W. Gayle and Edna E. Gayle; brother, Harrell Chancey and her grandson, Cedric "Ronnie" Breland III.

In lieu of a public service, Gayle's family plan to gather together and hold a private ceremony to celebrate her and the wondrous times they were blessed to have been able to share with her.
