Edna Torres St. Amant passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at age 98. She was born on December 1, 1927 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. She moved to St. Francisville, Louisiana when she was 4 years old. She was the daughter of Ellie Boone Converse and Joaquin Torres. Later, Ellie married Elmo Robb, owner of Robb's Drug Store in Baton Rouge, LA. She was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church. She graduated from Baton Rouge High in 1946 and attended LSU where she met her future husband, Parker St. Amant. When he saw her walking on campus with a tennis racket over her shoulder, he knew then that she was the girl of his dreams. They met in September of 1946 and were married 3 months later in December. They were happily married over 70 years.

They lived in Baton Rouge until 1963 when they moved to Lafayette. Edna loved playing golf at Oakbourne Country Club, but her favorite hole was probably the 19th. Edna and Parker loved to dance and had many friends who enjoyed dancing with them in dance clubs and Mardi Gras Krewes. Edna would entertain them with her high kicks and dancing across their curved sofa with castanets while the Spanish Gypsy Dance played on the stereo. She always credited her wild dancing on her hot Latin blood. She was an avid bridge player and continued playing even after she moved into assisted living at St. James Place in Baton Rouge with Parker in 2015. She was a dedicated LSU football fan and enjoyed going to the games in Tiger stadium in the 1950s and 1960s with her family and friends. She watched every LSU game that was on TV whether at Bob’s house in Baton Rouge, in the TV room at St. James Place, or in her room talking on the phone to Dale who was watching the game in Texas.

Those of us who knew Edna will remember how she had the gift of making others laugh without trying just by being herself. She entertained doctors, staff members and caregivers whenever she went to medical and dental appointments. She kept her sense of humor to the very end and entertained the staff with outrageous statements delivered in a matter- of -fact tone of voice.

She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Robert (Bob) and his wife, Claudette, Dale and his wife, Jerrie. Six grandchildren: Dr. Brandon (Mellisa), Lindsay Seely (Brian), Craig (Lacey), Brent (Christine), Amber Robinson (Randall), Claire Simmons (Riley) and ten great grandchildren, Riley, Madeleine, Logan, Noah, Connor, Cohen, Addison, Max, Ben, Will. She is survived by her sister, Robin Robb Coerver and her nieces, Claire and Kristin and Leigh Cleary.

The family wishes to thank ALL the caregivers and medical personnel at St. James Place both in Assisted Living and Health and Wellness who made her later years a place of comfort, joy, and peace. Special thanks go out to Hospice of Baton Rouge and Suzie Boudinot who lovingly cared for Edna and Parker as well. Thank you, Mother Joan Weber, for your pastoral care. Thank you, Cori Lanclos, who made Edna and Parker so very comfortable in this stage of their lives moving them to the right place at the right time—we made a friend for life.

The family will hold a private burial at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Hospice of Baton Rouge, 3600 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
