Eddie Barbier, Jr

It is with profound sadness that on Thursday July 4, 2024, Eddie Barbier Jr. died at the age of 97 years old at the Baton Rouge General Hospital on Bluebonnet Blvd. He was born on June 24, 1927, in New Orleans, Louisiana and was a resident of the city until he moved to Baton Rouge in 1998. 

He is preceded in death by his father Eddie Barbier Sr, his mother Clara Daggs Barbier and his brother Lester Barbier. He is survived by his son Timothy Barbier, his daughter Jessica Barbier, his cousin Michael Barlow and niece Sandra Barbier as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

He was a veteran of the US Army and served from 1951 to 1956. He later joined the National Maritime Union as a merchant seaman and sailed on the Gulf Traitor and Margaret Lykes until his retirement in 1996. 

 The funeral service was held on July 25, 2024, and his place of entombment is at Providence Memorial Park, 8200 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70003 for visitation.
