Dorothy Gayle Walsh Raley, lovingly known as “Honey” to her family, was born on August 21, 1941, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, at 3:16, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories.
Dorothy was a proud graduate of Baton Rouge High School, where she was honored as a beauty queen—an early reflection of the grace and spirit she carried throughout her life. She spent many dedicated years working as a receptionist at Richard’s Honda, where she was known for her kindness, welcoming smile, and genuine care for others. Many will fondly remember her warm greeting, “Welcome to Richard’s Honda, how can I direct your call?”
Above all, Dorothy was devoted to her family. She found her greatest joy in the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Dorothy Walsh; her beloved husband, James “Jim” Raley; and her granddaughter, Anna Jude Raley.
She is survived by her loving siblings, Jane Randolph (Steve), Larry Walsh (Linda), and Randy Walsh (Lenore); her daughters, Susan Ratcliff (John), JoAnne Poche (Kevin), and Ronda Picou (Ricky). She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Aaron Breeden (Maggie), Camron Breeden (Cierra), Laura Poche, Colin Poche, and Seth Vaccaro (Samantha). As well as her 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Michael Walsh (Maria), Michelle Walsh, Lauren Walsh, and Brent Walsh.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice for their love, compassion, and support during this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Dorothy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
