Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Jean Comeaux Peak was born on January 18, 1933 at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and died on February 13, 2026 at Golden Age Nursing Home in Denham Springs at the age of 93.
Visitation will be at Walker Baptist Church from 3-7PM on Monday, February 16th and will resume on Tuesday at 10AM until the time of service at 12pm. Interment will follow at Walker Baptist Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to gather, eat, and share memories of the beautiful woman that we all knew and loved at Walker Baptist Church following the graveside service.
Mrs. Dot was born to the union of John and Ella Dee Cook Comeaux. She was a lifetime resident of Walker, a faithful member of Walker Baptist Church and worked in the lunchroom at Walker High School for many years. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all, she had a special way of making everyone feel at home by always welcoming guests with a fresh pot of coffee, a warm smile, lots of laughs, and her unforgettable feisty spirit.
She took great pride in her flowers, especially her famous red amaryllis. Her home was a place where family and friends gathered for stories around the kitchen counter, sleepovers, and the assurance that there was always room for one more, whether it be on a bed, a couch, a chair, or a pallet on the floor. She was a wonderful cook who never let anyone leave hungry. Her grandchildren fondly remember her “good cereal,” cheese grits, waffles, comforting grilled cheese sandwiches, the ever changing treasures in her cookie jar, and her hidden stash of goodies. If you visited often enough, you might even receive her playful “one finger salute” (or possibly two), a gesture that perfectly captured her humor. Mrs. Dot will be remembered for her generosity, her lighthearted nature, her unconditional love for her family, her fondness for Diet Coke, and her impressive collection of outhouses.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 & 7/8 years, Ivy Peak; parents John and Ella Dee Comeaux; her son Gerald Peak; siblings Jessie W. Comeaux, Clearance “Gootsie” Comeaux, Charles Wayne Comeaux, Calvin Comeaux, Velma Lou Reeves, Melva Marie “Sis” DeLatte, Hilda Faye Zachary.
She is survived by her children Darrell (Tammy) Peak, Rhonda (Jerry) Jean Powell, and Howard (Suzanne) Peak; 14 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Flowers can be sent to Walker Baptist Church 10696 Florida Blvd Walker, LA 70785
The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Age Nursing Home, who cared for her in her last years of life.
