Donald Louis Odom, 65, died unexpectedly April 4, 2023, at Our Lady of the Lake. He was born July 5, 1957, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the son of Morris Jack and Billie Jean (Brummett) Odom. Don graduated from East Ascension High School, class of 1974. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Marine Corp.; After a medical discharge, he returned to Gonzales, Louisiana where he was employed with the family business of White’s Auto store. During this time, he met and married the love of his life Jean Rae (Villeneuve) Odom. They celebrated 43 years of marriage last May. Don was an avid war gaming enthusiast, and thoroughly studied politics his entire life. In addition to his grandparents James Norman and Stites (Murray) Odom, Willie Andrew and Mary Jane (Billingsley) Brummett he was predeceased by his parents Morris Jack and Billie Jean (Brummett) Odom. He was also predeceased by his son Brian and his oldest grandson Caine Miller. Surviving in addition to his wife, Jean (Villeneuve) Odom, are his daughter, Katie Lynn Emerson and her husband, Jeff, of Northport Alabama. His grandchildren Blacian and Ava Odom. His sisters Doris (Ted Armand) and Gayle (John Baughman), and also his two brothers Jerry Wayne and David Lee of Gonzales, Louisiana. As well as many nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held 10-12:00 pm Friday, April 7 with services following at United Faithful Methodist Church. Those who wish to remember Don in a special way may bring a covered food item in lieu of flowers to the memorial service at United Faithful Methodist.
