Diane Brandy White, lovingly known to all as Brandy, passed away on May 12, 2025, at the age of 70. Born in Clinton, Louisiana, on December 17, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Diane Buchanan and James H. White Jr. She was preceded in death by her siblings Wallis White, Marilyn Morris Legghio, and James Buchanan Morris, as well as her beloved grandmother, Eugenia Percy White.
Brandy lived with an extraordinary blend of depth, creativity, and warmth. She was passionate about many things—gardening, cooking, music, art, dogs, reading, and being in nature—but more than anything, she loved to learn. Incredibly knowledgeable on a wide range of subjects, she was always curious, always exploring, and she brought a unique perspective to every conversation—insightful, unexpected, and often unforgettable. Her mind was as vibrant as her spirit.
She was a natural hostess, and food was her love language. Brandy showed love by preparing thoughtful, often gourmet meals, gifting fresh flowers or potted plants, and choosing just the right tokens for the people she cared about. Whether for family, friends, or strangers, everything she gave was full of meaning and intention. She also cherished writing and receiving letters, and found joy in heartfelt connection.
She is survived by her daughters, Rene’ Martell Baus and Remy Baus Curry; son-in-law Robert Lee Curry V; her treasured grandchildren, Joseph Baus Fin, Elena Eugenie Fin, and Robert Lee Curry VI. She is also survived by her sister Karen White Allen and brother-in-law Randall Allen; her devoted partner and best friend, Richmond Gardner Savoy; and her loyal dog, Ryland.
Though she was only a grandmother for a few short years, her impact was profound and enduring. Her grandchildren will carry her memory with them always, as will the many others whose lives she touched with her vibrant presence, sharp wit, and generous heart.
Brandy made her home in St. Francisville, Louisiana, where she embraced the charm of small-town life and found beauty in everyday moments and nature all around her. Everything she did, she did with heart, vision, and her signature flair. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the beauty she created, and the unforgettable impression she left behind.
A celebration of Brandy’s life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Hillcrest in Clinton (10720 Bank St, Clinton, LA)—the cherished family home of her grandmother Eugenia Percy White, where Brandy’s daughters were raised and where generations of family memories were made. The family extends special thanks to Elizabeth White Brown and Steve Brown for opening their home to honor Brandy’s memory.
The family is especially grateful to Compasses Hospice and Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge for the care and compassion they gave to Brandy—and to all of us—during such a difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor her spirit by planting something beautiful, preparing a special meal for someone you love, or sending a heartfelt letter—just as she so often did.
