David Arnold Trusty, 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Clarity Hospice, Baton Rouge, LA. David was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. David is also survived by his mother, Pauline Sutphen Trusty; and siblings, Richard Allen Trusty (David), Kay Lynn Trusty Kirby (Bill); all of Austin, TX and Kimberly Ann Trusty Jones (Donn), of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by his sisters- and brothers-in-law, Michelle (Clouatre) and Stan Harris of Covington, LA, Giselle and André Clouatre, and Joelle (Clouatre) Castille of Baton Rouge, LA. He leaves behind three nieces; Bryn Castille, Patricia and Elizabeth Harris and four nephews; Miguel (Sarah) and Antiono Clouatre and Will and Dillon Kirby and his favorite Aunt, Bettye Walker of Alexandria, VA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Retired Lt. Col. George David Trusty, USAF.

A funeral service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church 208 N 4th Street, 70801 on Friday, August 8 at 1:00 PM. Visitation begins at 12:00 PM in the church. A private interment will take place later.

David, also known at DT, was deeply loved by all who knew him. His infectious smile, generous spirit, affection for pocket squares, and zest for life will be missed forever.

His greatest pastime revolved around cooking good food and drinking great wines. This always included family and friends and his sweet Golden Retriever, Charlie by his side. Each weekend began on Wednesday with, “What’s on the menu? What should we grill?” “Did I mention I lived in Hawaii?” He asked this question often followed by stories of his adventures there while in high school and after college.

His over 20-year career in sales and broadcasting management while mentoring numerous sales representatives began in Hawaii and continued throughout the south and ended in Baton Rouge, Renee’s hometown. He enjoyed many years with ClearChannel Broadcasting/IHeart Radio and made lifelong friends there. Real Estate became his passion after joining Gully, Phelps & McKey/Coldwell Banker in 2005. He started his own brokerage Trusty Investment Properties, LLC –Trusty Commercial together with his son John, in 2019 and joined by daughter Lauren in 2020 to lead the residential division. David’s face would light up while talking about real estate strategies with his agents and clients, many of whom he called friends.

Our family wishes to thank Dr. Gerald Militello, Dr. Prem Menon, Dr. Todd Cooley, Mike Cassidy and his staff at Clarity Hospice for their amazing care and compassion.
