Darren Lee McDowell

Darren passed away at home in Gonzales, La on September 15,2025. He was 52 years old and a longtime resident of Port Allen, La where he worked many years as a pipe bender for Turner Industries. He loved fishing for catfish from the riverbank under the Old Bridge.

Darren was born in Dallas Texas on June 11,1973. He is preceded in death by parents Sammie Wayne, Dorothy Jean Young and Paul Wayne McDowell, Sr., sister Yolonda Yvette Young; great nephews Jaxon Rushing and Hayden Guillory; and a great niece, Claire Franklin.

Darren is survived by stepchildren Dylan Mackiewicz, Calvin Dunaway and Cheyenne Dunaway; brothers Paul Wayne McDowell Jr. and Jim "Toy" Edward Grady Young; sisters Darlene Denise Clayton, Jennifer Marie McDowell, and Susan Annette Aaron; uncles John and Rick Hurst; aunt Betty Crawford; six nephews, nine nieces, numerous great nephews and great nieces and cousins, along with many friends he considered family.

We invite you to join us on November 8th, 2025 from 10AM-Noon for a celebration of his life. We will gather at 812 N. Jefferson Ave. Port Allen, La. 70767. We will honor him by wearing his favorite 80's/90's heavy metal band t-shirts and releasing black balloons.
