Daniel “Brother Danny” Bezet, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather and member of Central Baptist Church, passed away on May 7, 2024, at the age of 74.  He was born July 5, 1949, in Baton Rouge to Philip and Janelle Bezet,  the second of their four sons (Malcom, Burle & Greg). He was a graduate of Baker High School, class of 1967.

Danny was married to his high school sweetheart, Libby, for 55 years.  He lived a life of service as a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving as an aircraft mechanic during war time in Korea. After the military, he worked for South Central Bell. The next 12 years he served as assistant pastor at Central Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. During this time he grew the bus ministry to one of the largest in the Southeast and started a church in Bayou Sorrell. Danny then served as pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Baytown, Texas, for 21 years. During this time he started a Bible College in Baytown, founded a Spanish church and obtained an honorary doctorate degree. After retiring from Victory Baptist Church, he continued his life of service as an evangelist. Brother Danny loved teaching his Sunday school class named JOY (Just Older Youth) and served in many other capacities at Central Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed LSU sports, and spent time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his siblings; his wife Libby; sons Daniel (Sara) Bezet, Jr., Larry (Melissa) Bezet, and bonus son Stacey (Carrie) Merriott; grandchildren Emily (Jared) Quigley, Austin Bezet, Nicolas Bezet, Austin Merriott, and Sharon Witter, and great-grandchildren Brecken and Scotlyn.

The memorial service celebrating Danny's life will be held at Central Baptist Church in Baton Rouge on Saturday, May 11, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:00-11:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Baptist Church Bus Ministry, a program near and dear to Brother Danny’s heart.
