Listen to Obituary

Claudia Carr Arman was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana on November 21, 1939, and resided in Baton Rouge, LA where she built a beautiful life centered around her family and the people she loved. Following a short, but hard-fought battle with cancer, she passed away at her home on September 6, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by her family.

After graduating from Bogalusa High School, Claudia moved to Baton Rouge and went to work as a legal secretary at the Louisiana Highway Department. It was there that she met her beloved husband, Ara Arman, with whom she would share 62 years of marriage before his passing. After marrying and welcoming their first child, Claudia chose to leave her career and devote herself wholeheartedly to raising her family. She was a loving and dedicated mother who took great pride in being actively involved in her children’s lives. She generously gave her time, talents, and heart to St. George School and Church, where her children attended. Her children were the center of her world, and she treasured the years she spent nurturing, supporting and loving them. Once they were grown, she found a new way to devote her time and compassion to others through Our Lady of the Lake Volunteer Services, where she faithfully volunteered for more than 25 years. She found great joy in being of service to others and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her generosity, kindness and selflessness touched the lives of countless people.

Claudia enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, gardening, traveling, and decorating but her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She was an extraordinary cook and loved planning gatherings and preparing meals for those she loved, always making sure that everyone was well fed, comfortable and happy. In addition to her hobbies, Claudia was also an active member of the Cracked Pots ceramic group, as well as several LSU engineering wives’ groups, where she formed lasting friendships and cherished connections.

Above all else, Claudia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was her greatest pride and deepest joy. She poured her heart into those she loved, always putting her family first and finding her greatest happiness in their lives and accomplishments. She was a kind and gracious woman who carried herself with a quiet strength and dignity. Claudia had a selfless nature and consistently put the needs of others before her own. She was deeply devoted to her husband and lovingly took care of him in his final years, always by his side with unwavering love and compassion. Claudia’s gentle spirit, generous heart, and steadfast love for her family will be deeply missed. She cherished every moment spent with those she loved, creating countless memories that will remain treasured by her family and friends forever. Those who loved her will carry her love in their hearts and forever cherish the beautiful legacy that she leaves behind.

Claudia is preceded in death by her husband Ara Arman, father John Anderson Carr, her mother Nydia Marie Daspit Carr, and her brother Vernon Quintin Carr. She is survived by her son Eric Arman and wife Melissa, daughter Michelle Hancock and husband David, and grandchildren Alexander Arman, Arianna Arman Hadley (husband Tim), Amelia Grace Arman, Anna Catherine Hancock, and Ava Marie Hancock.
