Christopher John Hebert

Christopher John Hebert, age 50, passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2026, surrounded by friends and family who loved him dearly. Chris was born on November 12, 1975. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Hebert and Terry Welch. Above all else, Chris loved his son, Layken Hebert, with everything he had. Being Layken’s father was one of the greatest joys and proudest roles of his life. Chris grew up in the Lafayette area and later made his home in Gonzales around 2010. He attended Acadiana High School and began studies in Pre-Med before pursuing a successful career in business and technology. He proudly served in the National Guard and worked for both Capital One and Hibernia before opening his own business, POS Unwired. Chris was a special friend to many and had a gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and supported. While going through his own lung cancer journey, he became a passionate advocate within the lung cancer community. He worked tirelessly to encourage and support fellow survivors while promoting organizations such as The White Ribbon Project, LiveLung, and LUNGevity. He was always researching, learning, and sharing information in hopes of helping others. He loved the outdoors and especially cherished any adventure that included Layken. Chris enjoyed riding four-wheelers, fishing, traveling, cooking, and spending time with friends and loved ones. He was a faithful member of Gonzales Church of Christ. Chris will be remembered for his generous heart, strength, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His impact on the lives around him will not be forgotten. 

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Chris’s life On Saturday, May 23 at 10:00am at Gonzales Church of Christ – 1225 S. Purpera Avenue, Gonzales, LA 70737.
