Listen to Obituary

Christina Louise (Tumey) Cardona slipped quietly into eternity on July 16, 2026. She was attended lovingly and closely by her son Kai and his wife, Taylor, and her daughters Kacey and Kayley during her illness.

Christina was preceded in death by her father Donald E. Tumey. She is survived by her children, her mother, Nancy Tumey, and her siblings, Michael Tumey, Maren Elfaki, Matthew Tumey, Lauren Bourque, Bryan Tumey and Ryan Tumey.

Born in Marysville, KS. in 1963, Christina lived in many locations in the US, including Texas, Pennsylvania and Virginia as well as the Central, LA. area. After graduating from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. and attending Missionary Training School at Bethany World Prayer Center in Baker, she accepted a position at Calvary Ministerial Institute in El Carmen, Mexico. During her eleven years at this ministry, she met and married her ex-husband, Jacob Cardona. Upon returning to the US, she put down roots in Central, LA. where all three children attended school.

Christina worked for the State of Louisiana for the last 25 years at the Office of Administration where she was Manager of Human Resources. Christina enjoyed the challenges presented by her position and treasured the friendships she made there. Dedicated to her job, she continued to work during her treatment for cancer, finally retiring at the beginning of 2026.

Outside of work Christina found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She preferred a quiet life, spending time with her children, friends, and family, enjoying dinners out, watching movies, and playing games online. She found her greatest happiness in spending time with her family, and the love she shared with them will continue to live on in the countless memories they will forever hold close. Above all else, she loved her children and was immensely proud of the adults they have become.

No public services are scheduled. A private celebration of life will be held with family and close friends.
