A homemaker and resident of St. Amant passed away at the age of 82 on September 5th at her residence surrounded by the love of her husband and family.
Carole was born on February 1, 1942 in Dutchtown, Louisiana. Carole loved spending time with her family and many friends, working in her flower beds, cooking, and fishing. She was always up for anything. She was affectionately called “Chookie” by her dear friends.
She is survived by her husband Clarence (C.J.) Burns who she was married to for almost 67 years; 4 daughters, Dody (Kerby) Eliser, Rhonda Richardson, Lana (Kip) Landry, Shannon (Micah)Venable; 1 son, Steve (Melissa) Burns; 9 grandchildren, Brian Burns, Jake Bourgeois, Troy Richardson, Ashlee Delacerda, Shelbi Oubre, Lexie Landry, Taylor Watkins, Landon Gautreau and Mason Venable; 7 great grandchildren. Sister-in-law, Joanie (Mark) Kernan. Brother-in-law, Robert Hebert. Carole always thought of Cynthia Stafford as a little sister to her.
Preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kelli Bourgeois; son in law Don Richardson; her parents Chester and Ethel Anderson Simpson; 3 brothers, Elvin, Malcolm and Ray Simpson; 2 sisters, Rita Roussel and Nita Gautreau. Sisters and brothers in law, Beverly Simpson, Earl Roussel, Felton Gautreau, Claudette and Joe Wilson, Warren and Patsy Burns, Phyllis Hebert, Dotsie Mae and Leon Babin.
She was a member of Christ Healing Community Church. We would like to Thank the Hospice team at Baton Rouge General especially Kim and LaMarla.
Graveside service will be held at Household of Faith Mt. Zion Cemetery on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 10am.
