Joy Traylor was born on May 22, 1945 in Laurel Mississippi, to her parents Johnny and Beulah Tisdale. Joy moved her residence to Heaven on Friday November 10, 2023. .
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Earnest Tisdale and sister Kathy Wall. She is survived by her husband of 53 years George Traylor; Her sons Jeff Williams (Samm), Andy Traylor (Heidi); Her grand-children Ryan Williams, Allie Bordelon, Calvin Traylor, Nick Traylor, Mary Traylor and Jake Ewing, and very special nieces Ashley Calas (Ernesto), Heather Wall and Diamond Walker.
Joy was a very special lady with many accomplishments. As a young woman she took it upon herself to learn accounting and rose through the ranks of state accounting to the position of Fiscal Officer and grants writer for the Louisiana Department of Elections. From state government she moved to property management and then a position with Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) where she was a teacher/trainer in system techniques. Upon retirement from ACS Joy went to a new field. She worked as an assistant to Attorney Barton Conradi until an accident forced her second and final retirement. Joy authored a book of poetry “Reaching Out” with the proceeds going to a mission work in Rio de Janerio, Brazil. Other work included compiling and editing recipe books for two separate organizations.
The lights of Joy’s life were her relationships with first Her Lord Jesus Christ and then her family. She took special delight in her four great-grands; Carlie, Kamdyn, Kooper and Colston. Funeral service will be held at Covenant Community Church, Central, Thursday November 16, 2023. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with service at 11:00 am. Private burial service will be at Louisiana National Cemetery Friday November 17.
