Brant Marion Halker was born August 19th, 1975, and called home by the Lord on May 15th, 2026. Brant was a lifelong resident of Ascension Parish, Louisiana, a man whose hands worked with skill, whose heart loved deeply, and whose faith stood strong and unwavering even through life’s hardest seasons.
Brant grew up in these familiar surroundings and attended Saint Amant High School, where he played baseball and football from 1989 to 1993. Those who knew him then remember a young man full of love and creativity. He was exceptionally gifted with his hands. Whether working with wood or building something new, Brant approached every project with fine attention to detail and quiet pride. He took genuine satisfaction in craftsmanship—measuring twice, cutting once, and finishing each piece with care.
That same dedication carried into the kitchen. He loved to cook and spent much of his life working in restaurants, including helping to run the family restaurant, The Lunch Box, in St. Amant. There he served countless meals and even more people—offering nourishment, kindness, and a welcoming presence to many in the community.
Above all, Brant was a God-fearing man whose faith ran deep. He knew the Scriptures well and lived by them. For many years he served on the worship team, playing bass guitar with the same care and excellence he brought to everything he did. Even in his hardest times, his love for the Scriptures and his love for worship prevailed above any and all demons he may have faced. His trust in the Lord remained steady and sure. Through every trial, his faith never wavered—it was like no other, clear, consistent, and rooted in love for God and for others. Two passages that beautifully reflected Brant’s life and faith are these:
**2 Timothy 4:7-8**
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
**Romans 8:18**
“The pain that you've been feeling can't compare to the Joy that's coming.”
Brant leaves behind a family that meant everything to him. He is survived by his mother, Brenda Michel Halker, and his father, Ronald “Ronnie” Halker; his brothers, Andre Halker and Ron Halker; his children Brittany and Brady Reine, Sarah Halker; and his grandson Brendan Methvin. He is also survived by many beloved cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and his extended family in Christ. He is now reunited with his wife Veronica Dawn Nettles, who preceded him in death, in the presence of our Lord.
To all of us who loved him, Brant showed what it means to live with purpose and quiet strength. He poured love into his family without limits, worked with integrity, and kept his eyes fixed on the Lord. His presence brought steadiness and warmth. His hands built things that will last, and his example of faith will continue to guide us.
Brant, we thank God for every day we had with you. Thank you for the love you gave so freely, for the lessons you taught by how you lived, and for the way you pointed us toward heaven. Your race is finished, your faith has been made sight, and you are now home— resting in the presence of the Savior you loved and served so well. So with quiet pride and quiet strength and a not so quiet faith, we can find comfort knowing that Brant is finally at peace.
We will miss you deeply, but we do not grieve as those without hope. We know where you are, and we know we will see you again. Until that day, we will carry your memory in our hearts, speak of your life with gratitude, and hold fast to the same faith that carried you.
A service will be held for Brant on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026 at The Church International 13423 LA-431, St Amant, LA 70774. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until a religious service at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Brant Marion Halker's asks that you consider a contribution to defray the cost of funeral expenses. Contributions of any amount are appreciated.
Rest in peace, Dad. You are loved beyond measure, now and forever.
