Bobbie Jeanne Tooey VanBreemen passed peacefully on February 9, 2023. A short memorial service will be held in Bridge City, TX at St Paul United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial service in Oak Bluff Memorial Park Port Neches, Texas on April 22, 2023.
Born in Oklahoma February 28, 1932, Jeanne was the only child and daughter of Lurlene and Lenard Robert Tooey. When Jeanne was five months old, her family moved to Terrell, Texas (25 miles east of Dallas) where she was a cheerleader, and known to be an excellent student, earning salutatorian of her graduating high school class. She was fondly known as “Bobbie Jeanne” by her friends and classmates. As a loyal friend, for over 60 years, she gathered annually with a group of 10 of those special bonded classmates to have fun “girl trips”. They proudly called themselves, ”The TNT” where they gained local, notoriety for this unique steadfast friendship.
Jeanne attended North Texas State Teachers College (currently renamed University of North Texas) in Denton, Texas where she met her husband, Joe Van Breemen. While attending college to become a teacher, she also worked for the FBI in Dallas as a stenographer until she started having a family.
Jeanne & Joe raised their two sons and one daughter in Bridge City, Texas. Employed by the Bridge City Independent Education System for over 30 years, Jeanne served as a typing teacher, business teacher, head of the business department and served as the sponsoring teacher for the annual Student Yearbook at the Senior High School. Jeanne was known for being an excellent teacher, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend. She was also known for cooking a great pot of gumbo, playing competitive bridge, and traveling abroad with couple friends. She loved her family dearly and expressed compassion to everyone she met with a kind, gentle heart and lady-like spirit. She will be missed by her friends and family and the love for her will be held forever in our hearts.
She is survived by her three children R. B. (Buck) Vanbreemen, Joe Michael (Mike) VanBreemen, Sherri VanBreemen Glazier, and six grandchildren: Jeannie VanBreemen Kessler, Shonter VanBreemen Thorton, Joe VanBreemen, Katie Vanbreemen Todd, Amy Glazier Goldschmidt, Graclyn Glazier and nine great grandchildren.
