Blake E. Ewen

Blake Edward Ewen, native and resident of Donaldsonville, LA, passed away on August 22, 2023, at the age of 53.  Blake was a successful and professional Hairstylist for over 35 years.  He was artistically talented with painting and crafting.  Blake enjoyed landscaping, going to the beach with his family and friends, as well as entertaining in his “Oasis”, his beloved backyard, where there was lots of swimming, grilling, and singing karaoke, sometimes into the early morning hours.  Some of his favorite songs to sing were by Stevie Nicks, Cher, Kenny Chesney among a plethora of others.  Blake had a true passion for animals, especially his cherished Boston Terriers, which he bred for several years.  Blake is survived by his former spouse, Doug A. Lemaire, Jr.; parents, Kelly P. Ewen and Sylvia Burgess Ewen; sister, Derra E. Landaiche and husband, Kyle; his niece/godchild, Kaitlyn E Guillot and husband Tyler; nephew, Reis Landaiche; Godchild, Emerson Landaiche;  great niece, Blakely Ewen; great nephew, Brody Guillot; his beloved dog children, Tonka, Scooter, Lil Bit, Sassy, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins as well as friends.  Blake is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul and Dorothy L. “Dottie” Ewen; maternal grandparents, Sam and Gladys “Big G” Burgess.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville from 9am until a memorial mass at 12pm.  A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
