A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of our momma, Lorraine Braud, will be held at 11am, Friday, January 6th at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville, LA with visitation beginning at 9:30am. Graveside services will be at St. Williams Catholic Cemetery in Port Vincent, Louisiana. Lorraine was born on August 12, 1942 in Port Vincent, LA and passed from this life on Monday,January 2, 2023 at her daughter’s home after a long battle with dementia. Lorraine was 80 years old at the time of her death. Momma was a resident of Ascension Parish and a retired cafeteria manager for the Ascension Parish School Board, proudly serving the children of the St. Amant area for 25 years. Mom’s passion was sewing, children and cooking. She sewed for so many people during her life and if you were part of our family, you have probably worn something she sewed or fixed. She loved children and before she went to work for the school system she babysat many children in our childhood home; and even spent many summers off watching her nieces and nephews. Mom also loved to cook and was famous for her biscuits and fried chicken. Food was her love language and she was always trying to feed you every time you came home to visit. She was the heart of our family and will be missed greatly. Lorraine was preceded in death by her father & mother, Septine “Toby” Dupuy and Mable Cambre Dupuy, her husband for 60 years, James Wavell Braud & her brother Clinton “Buck” Dupuy. She is survived by her children Jeffery (Shelia) Braud, Robin Foret, David (Janet) Braud, & Nicole Cappel; sisters Mary McLin & Velma (JW) Anderson; & brother Raymond “Pete” (Florence) Dupuy; grandchildren Suzanne (Mike), Jeremy (Hanna), Jared, Tony (Rebekah), Mary, Alex (Brittany), Andy (Rachael), Angelle (Andrew), Alyssa, Alexis, Troy, Gracie, Wyatt & Christian; great-grandchildren Mason, Trey, Liam, Sydney, Zeke, Eli, D’mitri, Charlie & Jaxson; & a host of nieces & nephews, other relatives & friends. We would like to thank New Century Hospice for their excellent care and concern of our momma to the very end.
