Our beloved sister, eternal friend, aunt, and great-aunt, Betty, 75, entered eternal rest on June 2, 2026, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family and friends. Betty was born September 26, 1950 in Baton Rouge, LA.

We are grateful for the life of Betty Godso, whom her Heavenly Father has now called home. Betty was a woman of deep faith in Jesus Christ, unwavering kindness, and remarkable compassion. She touched countless lives through her prayers, gentle spirit, and willingness to help others in times of need. Many witnessed the comfort, hope, and strength she shared so freely, and her life stands as a testament to the power of faith and love in action.

Betty had a special gift for making people feel seen, valued, and cared for. She showered love upon family, friends, and even strangers—the waiter, the cashier, or the person in an elevator. Whether through a heartfelt conversation, a thoughtful act of kindness, or a faithful prayer offered on behalf of someone in need, Betty left an imprint on the hearts of all who knew her.

She faced each day with unshakable courage, abundant grace, and complete trust in God’s plan. Her strength inspired those around her, and her faith never wavered.

Betty’s desire to bring people to Jesus was unquenchable. With steadfast focus, she pointed those around her to the Cross of her Savior, Jesus Christ; while gently urging each person to hear and heed His voice for themselves. Among Betty’s final words, was a message she believed God had spoken to her: “Anyone she had witnessed to or prayed for, He was now taking over.”

So, if you knew Betty—even if you never knew she was praying for you—you can be assured that God is on your side.

A hearty howl and shower of kisses could always be expected whenever a child entered Betty’s presence. Every child shared in the bright light of her joyful spirit and the warmth of her smile. We are grateful for the blessing of her life and the many cherished memories she leaves behind.

Though this world seems a little dimmer without her, we find comfort in knowing that Betty is now at peace, embraced by the loving arms of her Savior. She will be deeply missed by many, but her legacy of faith, love, generosity, and prayer will continue to live on in the lives of all those she so dearly loved.

We can only imagine that she has now heard these precious words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23.

With love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Betty and entrust her to God’s eternal care.

Betty now spends eternity with her parents; John & Mamie Godso; brother: John L Godso, Jr., & her niece: Jennifer Deville Speights.

Betty’s surviving family awaits the hope of reunion:
