Betty Jean Perry Dawson, born on July 12, 1937, in Jennings, Louisiana, passed away on March 25, 2026, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She lived a full life marked by dedication and love for her family.
Betty was a loyal employee of Walmart for over 25 years, showing hard work and commitment throughout her career. Beyond her work, she was known for her love of spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She also enjoyed hobbies such as shopping, playing bingo, and visiting the casino.
Betty’s life was surrounded by a large and loving family. She is survived by her children, Brenda L. Burton and her husband, Anthony, James Dawson and his wife, Melissa, Caroline Marange and her husband, Gary, and Robert Dawson Jr. and his wife, Shannon. She was a proud grandmother to Anthony "Tony" Burton and his wife, Rebecca, Melissa Bourgeois and her husband, Christian, Jessica Dawson, Heather McInnis and her husband, Scott, Sarah Dawson, Brittany Dawson, Matthew Marange, Mark Marange, Brianna Marange, Robert "Robbie" Dawson III, Jeremy Dawson, and Elizabeth Dawson.
Her joy extended to her great-grandchildren, including Holly, Anna (and her husband Jake), Chad, Matthew, Joseph, Noah, Luke, Paisley, Bella, Amelia "Mia", Cohen, and Collin. She was also blessed with great-great-grandchildren named Caleigh and Natalie.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Dawson, Sr., her parents, Annie and George Perry; her sister, Jeanette Robert; her daughter-in-law, Sallye Dawson; her grandsons, Joshua Marange and Thomas Stanford.
A graveside service will be held to honor Betty’s memory on March 30, 2026. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Cemetery located at 38275 Salem Cemetery Road, Walker, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to St. Joseph Hospice Foundation.
