Barbara Murray Villar

Barbara Murray Villar passed away on September 20, 2026, at the age of 85. She was born on February 20, 1941, in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana.

Barbara will be remembered as a devoted woman who found joy in both her work and her home. She retired from the Ascension Parish School Board, where she worked as a food service worker. In retirement, she spent much of her time doing what she loved most: tending to her garden and caring for her citrus trees. She was an avid gardener, and that love brought beauty and care to the life she built around her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Culver Thomas Murray and Mary Alice Shoemake Murray; her husband, Robert Joseph Villar; her son, Charles Mike Villar and his wife, Alisa; her daughters, Linda Villar and Sandra Villar; and her sisters, Nova Ruth Rachal and Lillie May Shoemaker.

Barbara leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward. She is survived by her son, Steve Villar and his wife, Roxanne, of St. Amant; her sister, Mary Edna Collins of Natchitoches; her grandchildren, Michael “Mike” Villar and his wife, Ashlie, Jason Villar, Brett Villar and his wife, Jennifer, Erica Meche, Ashley Sturdivant, and Amanda Taylor; her great-grandchildren, Robert Michael Meche, Ava Villar Kyslinger and her husband, Adison, Brant Villar, Benjamin Villar, and Charlize Villar; and her great-great-granddaughter, Maelle Kyslinger. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her family will continue to cherish the many memories they shared with her.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Holly Court Assisted Living for the loving care Barbara received during her stay.

Visitation will be held on September 24, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 44450 LA-429, St. Amant, Louisiana 70774. A Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial to take place afterward at at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Villar, Brett Villar, Jason Villar, Brant Villar, Mytrial Whitehead, and Clay Berthelot. Robert Meche will serve as honorary pallbearer.
