Alexander Ewell “Whipper” Baudin, Jr.

Alexander Ewell “Whipper” Baudin, Jr. passed away Friday, Aug. 18 at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge.  He was born in New Orleans on June 16, 1942. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gay Zarko Baudin and his two dachshund fur babies, Izzy and Allie whom he adored. He is also survived by one niece, four nephews, two great nephews, one great niece plus an enormous amount of friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Isabelle Baudin, two sisters, Betty Jane Heard and Junie Bordelon and a nephew, Mark Heard. Whipper’s personality was larger than life, and everyone knew when he entered a room.  He was a friend to all, and never met a stranger. He was generous to a fault and was a devout Catholic.  His friends can recount many anecdotes about his life.  He loved the sun and the beach, and especially New Orleans and the French Quarter, and he was a member of the Krewe of Endymion for 20 years.  He lived life to the fullest and touched the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He attended Catholic High School in B.R. and LSU where he was a member of KA Fraternity.  He was an environmental consultant for over 40 years.  The family wishes to thank the doctors at OLOL Hospital for their extraordinary care. Visitation will be held on WED, Aug. 30 from 9am to 10 am at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave, BR 70806 with a mass following from 10am to 11am.  Reception to follow with information provided at the service.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Companion Animal Alliance of BR.
