Responsibly Serving Local Families
During the COVID-19 Crisis

At Church Funeral Services, we want you to know we are continuing to serve local families while steadfastly following state and local requirements to ensure everyone's health and safety.

Due to social distancing conditions and CDC restrictions on large in-person gatherings, some of our services are modified at this time; to learn about the options currently available to local families, contact us at (225) 644-9683.

As we continue to serve the community, safety remains our top priority. Along with the meticulous standards for hygiene we have always maintained, we are currently following additional cleaning protocols to ensure a safe environment for both families and staff. We must implement some new guidelines to be able to reach this goal. These new guidelines are intended for the protection of everyone:

  • Funeral arrangements by phone, email or fax is preferred. For those families that would prefer making arrangements in person with a funeral director at one of our 3 locations will be limited to Only the Legal next of kin at the arrangement conference. Everyone else can attend via cell phone. Clothing for the deceased must be placed inside a closed bag.
  • Certified Death Certificates: Can be mailed to designated person or only 1 designated person will be allowed to come to our office to pick them up.
  • Facetime or photo identification is preferred for the identification of Remains before cremation or immediate burial at the cemetery. If identification is done in person, only the legal next of kin will be allowed to view the deceased and can do a group facetime with the rest of the family. 15 minute time limit.
  • For funeral services or cremation services we will be following all guidelines established and set forth by the CDC, NFDA, Government Agencies, Church Regulations and Cemetery Guidelines.
  • To receive the cremated remains of a loved one: Only the person that is listed on the Cremation Authorization may come to receive the remains, unless we receive verbal permission from the legal Next of Kin to release to someone else.

We would like to introduce you to our latest business partner, In Lieu Of Flowers. Sending flowers to a funeral in memory of a loved one is a long-honored tradition. Today’s generation is more accustomed to making a memorial donation via a crowdfunding platform. www.ilof.com is a crowdfunding platform designed and created by members of the funeral industry to help families at their time of loss as a way for friends to make a memorial donation in a safe and secure way knowing the funds will go to the intended family. Here are some frequent asked questions:

1. Why In Lieu Of Flowers in place of other crowdfunding platforms?

With In Lieu Of Flowers, donors can have complete confidence the funds will be used for the intended purpose and was authorized by the immediate family. In Lieu Of Flowers only accepts donations in response to the lost of a loved one and is dedicated to the funeral industry.

2. What can the funds raised be used for?

Money raised via In Lieu Of Flowers can be used towards any expenses incurred during the memorialization of a loved one. This is not limited to just the fees from the funeral services provider, but can include cemetery plots, monuments, urns, obituaries, travel for out of town family, etc. The funds can also be donated by the family to a charity or their church.

3. How does a family spread the word on a campaign for In Lieu Of Flowers?

Your Funeral Director will set up the campaign at www.ilof.com and provide you with a link to your loved one’s dedicated page. From this page, you can share the link via email, text or social media like Facebook. We recommend that you add comments like “the family appreciates all donations” when the link is shared.

4. What if memorial donations exceed the set goal amount?

All monies raised above the funeral services providers fees are refunded to the loved one’s next of kin.

5. What if the family does not need donations to pay for the funeral expense?
www.ilof.com is a platform for families to accept donations in lieu of flowers that can be donated to the loved one’s favorite charity or something can be purchased in their memory.
