History of Church Funeral Services and Crematory
David Singletary and Alvin Villeneuve were both life-long residents of Ascension Parish and dedicated funeral professionals; both had worked for a number of funeral homes and corporate funeral locations. In 2006, they partnered and started a transportation service under the name A&D Transportation. With the consolidation of family-owned funeral homes by corporations, they recognized a need to offer affordable funeral services to families. In response to the demand, they opened Church Funeral Services and Crematory in St. Amant in 2009.
The name “Church” was chosen because all the funeral services were performed at the family’s place of worship or venue. Around this time, cremations started to gain popularity, so Singletary and Villeneuve established their own crematory while other funeral homes usually outsourced this service. By providing quality services at an affordable price, the business took off. In 2011, they opened an arrangement office in Baton Rouge and, in 2013, an office in Walker.
In November of 2016, Alvin passed away, and David was ready to retire and spend time with his family. On January 1, 2017, Church Funeral Services and Crematory completed a merger with Silver Lining Funeral Services.
Silver Lining is operated by the Clark brothers, Greg and Mike Clark. They are originally from Winnsboro LA, and Mike has been an employee of Church since 2014. With a passion for providing exceptional service at an affordable price, the Clarks continue the family-focused business plan that was put in place by the founders.
A funeral or memorial service is about the loved one, but it is for the living. Church Funeral Services and Crematory recognizes that our primary mission is to provide compassionate care during the time of a loss and to assist the start of the healing process. This is accomplished by listening to our families and offering the type of memorialization they desire. We understand that each family is different with different budget limitations. We will be flexible in creating the memorial tribute and exceed the expectations of our families whether this is a traditional funeral or a cremation.
Establish a funeral services brand for either traditional burials or cremations with a reputation built on providing compassionate service and quality delivery. Pricing is based upon reasonable profitability and not competition pricing. This is a non-traditional funeral home but a dedicated funeral services business that listens to our families and creates a memorialization of their loves ones the way they want things created and remembered. Family owned with an eye for dedicated funeral industry service employees with a passion for serving families in need.
Behind Each Cloud There is a Bright Side
Behind each cloud there is a Silver Lining. After each storm, the sun shines brightly through. Each valley has nearby a mountain. Beyond this life, I now see Heaven in view. So I’ll press on to the mark of my high calling. Just as Paul said that he would do. I know there is a crown of life a waiting for the called, chosen and the faithful few.
Though temptations great I will fear no evil. Though trails hard I’ll try to understand. For Jesus said, “I’ll never leave or forsake you. Just reach out and hold my faithful hand.”
Though darkness seems to cover our nation and trouble press our state on every hand. Uncertainty rules throughout our parish. Let’s trust in God…. He’ll lend a helping hand.
Though death has come and taken our loved ones and things are sometimes hard to understand. I know our God has all great wisdom, let’s trust and hold His unchanging hand.
