Beverly Domengeaux Thomas

Bev, as she was affectionately called by friends and family, peacefully passed away surrounded by those who loved her on February 23, 2023.  Born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana on July 23, 1925, she had a special zest for life and lived it to the fullest. There wasn’t anything she didn’t think she could do, even at the young age of 97. She wanted to do it all. She and her husband, Brian traveled the world for years and brought gifts back for her loved ones from all corners of the globe. She shared her beautiful smile, spirit, kindness, generosity, and love with everyone she met. Bev was a true southern lady that knew her way around the kitchen creating many scrumptious dishes such as a delicious crawfish etouffee and pork roast and gravy to name just a couple. A pianist and a lover of music, she sang with The Baton Rouge Chorus , The Sweet Adeline’s and The Oak Grove Baptist Church Choir where she was a lifelong member. A wonderful grandmother to her two grandsons, Jordan and Sean, who called her Nana. She never missed an opportunity to shower them with love and affection and a bit of spoiling as was her right.  They were truly the “apples of her eye,” The deep love and caring she gave to her family will be her lasting legacy. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Brian E. Thomas; parents, J. S. and Verrena Webb Domengeaux and one sister, Gloria Bradley. She is survived by a sister, Bobbie Bourgeois, Baton Rouge; three sons, Brian Dale Thomas, The Woodlands, Texas; Darryl and wife Teri Thomas, Baton Rouge; Mark Thomas along with Dan Nalepa, French Settlement; two grandsons, Jordan Thomas along with Jacob Parker, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Sean and wife Stacy Thomas, Baton Rouge; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins who loved her dearly. A special thanks to the staff of Garden View Assisted Living, Pinnacle Hospice of Baton Rouge, The Hospice of Baton Rouge and The Butterfly Wing of The Baton Rouge General Medical Center for their loving care and compassion shown to Bev and her family. Bev’s light will always shine bright. Her spirit will always fly high. The inspiration she gave to others will live on forever. A private family graveside interment of ashes will be held.
