Patricia Wright Taylor

A ceremony celebrating the life of Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Ann Wright Taylor will be held at 11 am Friday at Satsuma Baptist Church, visitation will begin Thursday 6 pm until 8 pm and will resume on Friday at 9 am until time of the service at 11 am. Interment will follow at Palmetto Cemetery Walker.

Pat was born on February 2, 1947, and departed from this life on January 29, 2023, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center at the age of 75 years. She was a resident of Walker.  She enjoyed reading, going to a casino with friends, elephants, traveling, Elvis and was a football fan of the New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys, and Kansas City Chiefs (because she loved Mahomes). Her greatest love and passion was her family.

Pat’s family moved to Texas when she was in middle school.  It was at a roller rink she met the man who’d become her future husband, Roy “Spud” Taylor.  They married on her birthday in 1968.  Pat would tell everyone that way he didn’t have to remember two dates; Spud tells everyone it was because he gave her him for her birthday.  During their marriage Pat was supportive as Spud started his own cabinet shop and grew it.  She often worked for him even as she was keeping their home and children.  Two years after they married, they had their first-born Shara.  They gave Shara a little sister, Missy, four years later.  Pat had a rough childhood, and she was determined her children would not experience the same.  She did all should could to make her two daughters’ childhood happy and safe.  She played games with them.  She protected them from the harsh realities of life, so they could just be kids.  As a stay at home mom, she volunteered at their schools, helped with their Blue Birds organization, played games and puzzles, read books to them, and gave them a lifelong love of learning and reading.  She made sure the family took vacations from Disney to Colorado, also ensuring her two girls love to travel.  She was a strong, giving, and loving woman, and was a great example for everyone who was blessed to meet her. She never met a stranger.  She is greatly loved by so many.

She is preceded in death by her parents Inez Bonner and Walter Wright Sr., brother Jack Wright Jr., brother-in-law Roy Buckley.

Survivors include her loving husband Roy “Spud” Taylor, her smart oldest daughter Shara Taylor Arnold (Joel), her funny youngest daughter Missy Taylor, her siblings Bettie Flores, Fonda Sue Buckley, and Mark Wright (Rosie), also survived by a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
