Mildred Lester Alexander

Mildred Lester Alexander was born January 16, 1929, the second of ten children born to Willie Lester and Gladys Walker Lester, and passed from this life November 21, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Lee Royce Alexander. She is survived by her son Kelvin Alexander; son Mark Alexander and his wife, Judy; and their children Lee Ann and Joel and wife, Jessica; sisters Billie O’Quinn and Carol Crain from Walker and Faye Sims from Porter, TX; brothers Walter Lester from Bastrop and Charles Lester from Glenmora; and nieces, nephews, students, and friends too numerous to name.

Mildred was baptized in the name of Jesus by Rev. H. L. McGaha as a young teenager in Richland Parish and served the Lord all the days of her life. She graduated from Rayville High School and enrolled in LA Tech for her first degree. Later she went to LSU for a master’s degree and earned numerous certifications in teaching exceptional children. She served as the supervising teacher at the Louisiana School for the Deaf, vice principal at Community Christian Academy, and teacher at a number of schools. She was a core member of Grace Church of Central and a treasured pillar of her family.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Grace Church at 13845 Hooper Road in Central on Sunday, November 27 with the funeral beginning at 6 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 28.
