Henry Otis Welch, Sr.

Henry Otis Welch, Sr. age 69, passed away on Thursday November 10, 2022, at 10:31 am. Baton Rouge General Hospital on Picardy Ave. He was Lung Cancer Free 7 years 5 1/2 months then returned on Grand Darling Kaylee’s 5th birthday December 3, 2021, as Stage 4 Lung, Liver and Bone. He fought a Courageous Battle for 11 months 1 week.

He was born the 4th day of February 1953 as the first child and only son of Harley Otis and Henri Eloise LaCour Welch in Denham Springs, La.

He was a 8-year Veteran of LA Army National Guards with 769th Engineer Battalion 101st Airborne during Vietnam War. Before his disability in 2013 he was a Glazier for over 25 years.

Henry was very proud of his family and Church. His Hobbies were camping, tinkering with tools and metal detector. Had adventure of a lifetime with cousin J. W. (Bill) Parker to the Yukon, Canada 5 weeks panning for Gold. His last road trip with family was in July to Noah’s Ark in KY. and Proposed a second time to his wife Carmen of 48 years 3 months at Niagara Falls, NY.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents Otis and Eloise Welch, maternal grandparents Henry and Katie Wood LaCour, paternal grandparents Akemon and Lizzie Welch. In-laws Francis Douglas and Mary Louise Booty Sylvest, Sr.

He leaves behind his Beloved wife Carmen, Devoted children Henry Jr. (Alayna) and Heather. Grand Darlings Mi-Rayah, Mirissa, Joel, Austin, Kaylee and Jordyn Welch. Jacob (Alexis) their children Zayden and Laynee Young. Grand Fur Baby Ruby. Sister Karen Kelly and sons Trey (Megan) and Brent (Amy), Aunts Ruth Dartez, Dora Price and Lillie Armstrong, Mother of our two eldest grands LaJuana P. (J P) Meyer, In-Laws, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends like family.

The Family extends heartfelt thanks to Pastor Leo Miller FBC Denham Springs, Drs. Gerald Miletello, John Godke and Karin Hawkins.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Denham Springs, 27735 LA-16, Denham Springs, La. Visitation will begin at 9 am until service at 11 am. Military Honors and a reception will follow.
