Julia Katherine (Caylor) Mclellan

Julia Katherine (Caylor) McLellan was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on July 27, 1921, and died on October 27, 2022, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. On a beautiful Thursday morning, at her R5J Farm, Julia McLellan quietly passed into the arms of her beloved Savior, Jesus, after 101 years and 3 months of a life of service. Her legacy includes 6 children, 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Julia taught multiple subjects at Woodlawn High School for 25 years and was an active member, teacher, and servant at Parkview Baptist Church for 70 years. Julia was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Crawford Reid McLellan, Sr., her father and mother, John and Florinne Caylor, sister Patti and brother John, a son-in-law Don Cloud, and a grandson Jonathan Abel, in addition to other loved family members, students, and friends. She is survived by three daughters, Judy McLellan Dacus and husband Mike, Rinn McLellan Cloud, Rebecca Ann Abel and husband Mark; three sons, C. Reid McLellan and wife Judith, Richard C. McLellan and wife Linda, G. Ronald McLellan and wife Nancy. In August 1942, her soon-to-be husband, Crawford McLellan, wrote a letter to Julia’s mother and included a statement that is the perfect epithet: “Did you know you have the most precious daughter in the world? You have, and I am not the only one to think so. Everyone I’ve seen has vouched for that, and I know she has no peer.” A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in early 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Parkview 55+ Ministry or to your favorite organization.
