Mavis Watts Rabalais

Mavis Watts Rabalais passed away peacefully on Monday, October 17, 2022 at the age of 83. Survived by her two children; Terrance B. Rabalais, Jr. (Toby) and wife, Dionne; Angie Rome and husband, Greg, all of Baton Rouge, and three grandchildren; Dr. Zoe Rome of Pensacola, FL, Zack Rome of Henderson, NV and Zayne Rome of Baton Rouge as well as many numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Terrance B. Rabalais, Sr.; her beloved son, Todd Luke Rabalais, who passed away unexpectedly in January 2022; loving parents Delphin and Lena Watts and brother and sister-in-law, Ervin Watts and wife, Winona, all of Colyell, LA.

She graduated from Istrouma High School in 1957 and worked for Gulf States Utilities, Gulf Wandes Plastics and The Gift Basket of Louisiana. She married Terry in 1961 and raised her family in Baton Rouge eventually deciding on a quiet life surrounded by family in Livingston Parish.  She loved hummingbirds, flower arranging and making gift baskets and Christmas wreaths for family and friends. A special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice, especially Randi, Bernice, Tila, Cherika, Kaye and Dixie and a very special thanks to home caregivers Jane Briscoe, Rachael Clay and Anna Pettis.  

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 10 to 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 15710 LA Hwy 16, French Settlement, LA 70733 followed by a funeral mass which will begin at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Mavis’s honor to St. Joseph Catholic Church Bell Tower Fund, 15710 LA Hwy 16, French Settlement, LA 70733 or St. Joseph Hospice Foundation, 17732 Highland Road
