Winnie Mae Bourgeois Laird

Winnie Mae Bourgeois Laird, born in New Orleans and resident of Gonzales, passed away on Thursday September 29, 2022, at the age of 88.  Winnie was a long-time member of Sorrento Baptist church and loved the Lord. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed caring for others. Her favorite past time was playing the “marble” game and other card games. She loved to cook and share the food she prepared. She made the best homemade yeast bread and cookies ever. She worked as an Ascension Parish bus driver for many years. She will be missed by her family and everyone else who knew her.   Winnie is survived by her children, Gilbert Norton and wife, Nancy, Alan Norton and wife, Darlene, Sandra Jeansonne and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Brad Norton, Jason Norton, Sarah Wampler, Ashley Andres; great grandchildren, Natalie Wampler and Maren Wampler.  Winnie is preceded in death by her husband, James Laird; sons, Clarence Norton and Arley Norton Jr.; parents, Constant and Eve LeBlanc Bourgeois.  Visitation will be held at Sorrento Baptist Church on Monday, October 3, 2022, from 9am until service at 11am.  Burial to follow at Mt.
