Charles Edwards Driggers

Charles Edwards Driggers, age 88, resident of Gonzales, LA, was called Home by his Lord and Savior on Wednesday September 21, 2022. He passed at The Crossing hospice in Baton Rouge suffering complications from COPD and CHF after Aortic Heart Valve Replacement surgery in April.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wiley T. and Ellen F. Driggers of Collins, Georgia where he was born; also a sister, Tera D. Shannon of Colin, Louisiana. His loving survivors are wife Nancy, daughters Charlene and Nicole, son Richard, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Charles served his country during the Korean War in the Navy aboard the USS Helena CA-75. In later years, he enjoyed attending ship reunions held in various locations around the country, where he and former shipmates reminisced about their glory days. Charles went to his Collins High School reunions very often, catching up with some classmates he had not seen in years. He loved gardening, cooking, reading history – and cookbooks, watching the Tigers play football and baseball. He followed the Saints throughout the good years and the bad. Most of all he was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday October 1, 2022, from Noon ’til the cow s come home at Praise Church, 36452 C. Braud Road, Prairieville, Louisiana 70769. We would love to visit and swap stories with all his friends and relatives.
