Cappy Jarvis Jackson
Cappy Jarvis Jackson went home to be with her Lord on September 23, 2022, at the age of 69. Cappy passed away peacefully at home after an extended battle with frontotemporal dementia. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, in the sanctuary of Hebron Baptist Church in Denham Springs, LA, and will be officiated by Brother Travis Cronan, Pastor. Her body will be laid to rest at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Baton Rouge, LA. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, September 27, 2022, from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Hebron Baptist Church.
Cappy was preceded in death by her father and mother, Albert “Al” Alpheus Jarvis and Eunice Rounsaville Jarvis. Left to cherish her sweet memory are her husband of 50 years, Aubry Stevens “Steve” Jackson, Jr., of Denham Springs, LA; three children, Stephanie Jackson Rogers and husband, Langston, of Hattiesburg, MS; Derrick Paul Jackson and wife, Ashley, of Nacogdoches, TX; and Ryan Paul Jackson and wife, Carrie, of Denham Springs, LA; six grandchildren, Alison, Katelyn, Sawyer, Stryder, Elijah, and Saylor. Cappy is also survived by her sister, Pamela “Pam” Jarvis Duplessis and husband, John, of Zachary, LA; and her brother, Val Wade Jarvis and wife, Cindy, of Central, LA; and many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families.
Serving as pallbearers will be Val Jarvis, John Duplessis, Wade Jarvis, Justin McNeal, TD Jackson and Charlie Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons, Derrick and Ryan and her son-in-law, Langston.
Cappy was born August 15, 1953, in Baton Rouge, LA, to Al and Eunice Jarvis. She was raised with a loving sister and brother, Pam and Val. Cappy graduated from Central High School in 1971, and went on to graduate with honors from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She began her nursing career at Earl K. Long Memorial Hospital and retired from Ochsner Medical Center of Baton Rouge in 2016 after approximately 40 years in nursing. In 2003, Cappy’s devotion to the profession was recognized by the Baton Rouge District Nurses Association and she was named an “Outstanding Nurse.”
Cappy met the love of her life, Steve, at Holiday Acres in Greenwell Springs, LA, in the summer of 1967. They married on June 1, 1972, and embarked on a life together that would bless them with three devoted children and their spouses, six precious grandchildren, and a host of dear friends and extended family. Cappy thoroughly enjoyed spending time and traveling with her friends and family. She was known for her strength of character, candid advice, and heart-warming smile. Cappy had a deep Christian faith which she and Steve passed on to their children and grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to close friends and extended family (Lucy, Laynette, and Krista) who helped care for Cappy and those who continue to offer soothing words of comfort, endless prayer, and countless acts of kindness, as well as the wonderful team at The Hospice of Baton Rouge and The Butterfly Wing.
Until one is in need, it is difficult to understand how precious life is, how wonderful selfless friends are, and how important and comforting personal faith in our Savior, Christ Jesus, is. As Billy Graham said before his death: “Some day you will read or hear that [I am] dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.” Cappy is now home and eternally whole in the loving presence of her Savior—as He has promised. Praise the Lord!
